Sure you can make popcorn in the microwave in a matter of seconds, but really now...how much fun is that? Not to mention, the kitchen will now smell like popcorn for 12 hours. If you want to make popcorn the old fashioned way over the flame of of a campfire or fireplace, nothing compares to Rome's popcorn poppers.
While retaining it's old fashioned style, we've made some significant improvements to our best selling popper for 2010. Cooking depth is now 3.5" (increased by 1/2"). We redesigned the lid latch for easier opening/closing and switched from non-stick to a hgh quality BBQ grade baked enamel finish. We also designed the wood handle and improved the look & style of the packaging box. The #122-T still breaks down for car camping and also works great for chestnuts.
Heat a couple of tablespoons of oil in the pan, add about 1/4 cup of corn and spread evenly. Hold over flame or heat source. Do not stick in the coals. Cook, shaking from time to time listening for the corn to start popping. When the popping dies down, remove from heat and check to see if the popcorn is done. You can expect there to always be a some unpopped kernals, because if you try to pop every last one, you'll probably burn the kernals that already popped.
